Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War Impressions

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War Impressions

We’re so close to the next installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Many of us are excited about getting a campaign mode again in the Black Ops series. When Black Ops – Cold War was announced in 2019, it didn’t really turn any heads because people assumed it would be another multiplayer cash grab with a new skin, but the campaign mode sounds really exciting.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War Campaign Mode

Black Ops – Cold War will take place during, you guessed it, the real-life Cold War of the early 1980s. While the names are fictional, the real-life events they’re based on are absolutely real, and we’re glad we get to take a look at the war no one really talks about in history.

Many don’t consider the Cold War an actual “war,” but people still died from violence and proxy battles between the big countries involved. Whatever the players decide to do with their actions throughout the campaign will affect which ending they get at the end.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War Multiplayer Mode

There will be new game modes we’re excited about in Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War, as well as integration with the already established battle royale mode: Call of Duty: Warzone. Black Ops – Cold War will have the 6v6 game mode and a bigger game mode with double the players engaging in 12v12 combat.

The new game mode we’re especially excited about is “Fireteam,” with up to 40 players. Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War will also support cross-platform play. That means players on the PlayStation can play with those on Xbox.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Zombies

Zombies mode will be the most exciting addition to Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War. Cold War Zombies will have a new storyline called “Dark Aether.” For those who don’t remember, it’s going to build on the original Aether story that we believed finished in Black Ops 4. Players won’t have story mode characters as they did in previous Black Ops titles, which will be interesting.

There’s going to be loadouts shared with the multiplayer mode, so the players will essentially be unnamed characters, but this is an exciting addition. Everything from the wall buys to the mystery box are returning for Black Ops Cold War. Unfortunately, for non-PlayStation users, Sony’s fans will get a zombies game mode exclusive to them for the first year of release. Up to two players must defend a Dark Aether Orb by killing zombies. However, the orb moves around, so it will require some serious coordination between the two players.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War has had its fair share of controversy (even though it’s not even released yet), we’re looking forward to seeing some of the new features in a new Black Ops game. The Ultimate Edition of the game will contain some skin packs and the season 1 battle pass. Those who own the Ultimate Edition will also have a free upgrade to the next-generation console versions of the game for the Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War will release on November 13th, 2020.
