Cyberpunk 2077 Physical Version on PS4 to come on 2 Discs
We’re only a few weeks away from the launch of the hottest game release of the year, Cyberpunk 2077, and that naturally means that retailers are receiving promo material to prepare for December 10th. Of course, eager store owners, staff and customers are snapping pictures so we get a few new juicy bits.
The most important detail regarding the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 was provided by Twitter user Mikeymorphin. On their feed, they shared photos of the top right corner and the back of the game’s case. The front photo shows off what you will find in the box, with the words “2x Blu-Ray Discs” standing out the most. This could mean a couple of things. For one, the second disc may simply contain extra optional content. On the other hand, it could mean the game was too large to fit on a single PS4 disc. At the back, you’ll notice in the feature information section that the game will take up more than 70 GB of your console’s premium real estate.
Coupling these two factors together, the likely answer is that Cyberpunk 2077 will get the same 2-disc treatment that Red Dead Redemption and Final Fantasy VII Remake had. Both games shipped on PS4 on two discs. One for data installation and the other for running the game. Considering how large the Night City map will be and all of the various activities and missions you’ll be able to do, we’re not shocked that the game turned out so beefy.
The good news is that with CD Projekt RED sending out all of these promo materials, we can safely assume the game will make its planned December 10th debut. This assumption can be further cemented by the recent gameplay reveals showing the game running on PS4 and Xbox One hardware. The Polish developer had stated that the reason the game was further delayed from its November release was that they needed more time to get the game running on current-gen hardware. Showing off this gameplay was them likely making a statement that the game is ready to go on all platforms.
After learning from the latest episode of Night City Wire more about Cyberpunk 2077’s main campaign and the role Keanu Reeve’s character, Johnny Silverhard, plays, we’re more excited than ever to get our hands on the game. It’ll be out in a few weeks, on December 10th on all platforms. If you pick up the game on Stadia now, you’ll also get a free Stadia Premiere Kit while supplies last.
