EA Surprise Launches their FIFA 21 PS5 and Series X and S Free Upgrades a Day Early
Free next-gen upgrades for games have been an incredible boon for gamers and FIFA 21 has been one such game to get the same treatment. The game launched earlier this year and was promised a free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S this month. Nobody, though, expected EA to launch that upgrade a day before the next-gen version of the game was supposed to drop.

The next-gen version went on sale on December 4th but the free update was bestowed upon those who had the PS4 and Xbox One versions a day early, on Dec 3rd. A pleasant surprise to be sure.

If you’re not already privy to this and you own the game on PS4 or Xbox One, you can sign in to the game on your next-gen console with the account associated with the game version you own. By going into the library and locating FIFA 21, you should see an icon for the free upgrade and download it.

There are quite a few perks to owning FIFA 21 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. For starters, you get to enjoy the game in glorious 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Special rendering and lighting techniques also add an additional layer of realism and improve the textures of in-game models and stadiums. These next-gen versions of FIFA 21 have improved muscle definition technology making players look truer to life.

On top of that, the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has ball compression. This means when the ball is kicked, it deforms in the same way a real football would temporarily deform when struck by the powerful kick of a pro player.

Next-gen versions of FIFA 21 also have a new camera angle, called the EA Sports Game Cam. It’s a more off-set angle that makes the game look the same way as it does when you’re watching a football match on TV. Responsiveness is also improved in the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of FIFA 21 thanks to multi-touch animations. In essence, this means that players have more animations when they touch the ball. These longer animations make the player and ball movement feel closer to their real-life counterparts.

Finally, the next-gen console versions of FIFA 21 have what EA calls “big goal moments”. When an extra important goal is scored, such as a last-minute game-winning goal, the players will have more exaggerated reactions, and you may even see managers and other team members join in the festivities.

EA has stated that these features aren’t present in the PC version of FIFA 21 because next-gen consoles offered them “more performance cycles”. FIFA 21 on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X and S have been available both as a free upgrade and to buy since December 4th.
