Leaked Trailer Reveals Persona 5 Strikers Western Release Date_ PS4 and PC Versions

Persona 5 Scramble: Phantom Strikers, the Musou-style spin-off to the critically acclaimed JRPG title, has been out in Japan for quite some time now. Fans of the series have been clamoring for a Western release announcement and it seems a leaked video on Atlus’s YouTube channel has given it to them.

The video was accidentally made public on December 4th and then quickly removed. Eagle-eyed viewers and media outlets, however, were quick on the uptake. According to the teaser trailer, the game will be launching in the west under the title Persona 5 Strikers with an expected release date set to February 23rd, 2021.

On top of that, the video reveals that besides launching on PS4 and Nintendo Switch as it did in Japan, Persona 5 Strikers will also be getting a PC version. This surely should be big news for PC gamers who’ve been hoping for the critically acclaimed Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal to be launched on their platform as well.

Persona 5 Strikers is one of a long list of franchise crossovers with Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors series. However, it’s not simply a Musou game with the Phantom Thieves slapped into it. Outside of taking on hordes of enemies in a parallel world in gloriously spectacular action combat, you’ll also get to navigate the real world as Joker where you can interact with characters and kick off Requests.

Within dungeons, you’ll be able to explore as any of the four members you bring into your party. The stealth and sneak mechanics of Persona 5 return in Persona 5 Strikers, along with the Palace alert levels. As you progress through the game, you’re able to gain new abilities called Master Arts as well as collect and fuse a variety of Personas. Outside of the familiar Musou combat, you’ll also be able to use a command-based system with which you can assign tactical instructions for your personas.

The game is set six months after the events of Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. The MC – known as Akira in the Persona 5 anime – and his feline companion Morgana return to Tokyo for a summer reunion with the rest of the Phantom Thieves. By using a new app called EMMA to find a location for their campsite, they and Ryuji get transported to an alternate Tokyo known as the Jail. From there, begins another adventure filled with heart taking and intrigue.

Persona 5 Strikers has already garnered positive reviews for its Japanese version on Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4. There’s no word on when the teaser trailer will be officially released by Atlus. Thankfully, we do know we won’t have to wait long until the western release on February 23rd.
